Singer of All Songs

Chanters of Tremaris #1: Singer of All Songs by Kate Constable
Unabridged on 5 cassettes

I really liked this teen fantasy. Calwyn is a chanter of the north who chants to make ice. Her land is surrounded by a high wall of ice that she helps to make and maintain. One day she finds a man inside the walls. He has a broken foot and claims to have flown over the wall. Excellent story. I have ordered the second book from Amazon. I hope it gets here soon :)

One Foot in the Grave

Night Huntress series #2: One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

The story just keeps getting better and better. In this episode, Cat combines forces with a special ops group of a government agency and Bones tags along for the fun. But the fun turns out to be Bones sire.

I have book 3 in this series and have read the first few pages. So far, it sounds like it will be as good as the other two.

Tarot Study: Hierophant

Tarot Study: Major Arcana 5: The Hierophant

Red robed, crowned figure sits upon an elevated throne between two pillars. His feet rest upon a carpet inscribed with two keys. His right hand is raised in blessing while in his left he holds the triple-tiered Papal Cross. Two other robed figures stand before him.

The Hierophant traditionally represents a teacher or spiritual advisor. It's meaning indicates an awareness of another dimention of life. It reminds us that we are a part of this life and that we need to be truthful to ourselves and others. The Hierophant can symbolize a wise person or someone who can pass on his or her experience or learning. They are usually someone you look up to or seek out for advice.

Meaning: Inspiriation, a union of sorts, goodness, duty, morality, conscience and conformity. Good advice.

Reversed: The questioning of conventional mores, flaunting morals or rejecting your religious training. Perhaps it is time to question authority or to choose your own standards. It might also indicate that you are too rigid or dogmatic.

Halfway to the Grave

Night Huntress #1: Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

I liked this one. Catherine Crawford (Cat) was bone to a human mother and vampire father. Raised by her mother to hate vampires because of her birth, Cat roams the bars and streets at night killing random vampires - until she met Bones. He taught her that just as there are good and bad people, there are good and bad vampires. Their working relationship soon turns to love, one she knows her mother would strongly disagree with.

At times in this book, I got irritated with silliness. Cat would do some completely stupid silly things, but for the most part, I enjoyed the story and will continue with the series.

Dragon's Kin

Dragon's Kin by Anne & Todd McCaffrey
Unabridged 6 Cassettes read by Dick Hill

I've loved this series ever since I picked up Dragonsinger back probably 20+ years ago. I loved reading them and love them even more now in audio. Dick Hill has the perfect voice, I can't imagine anyone else reading them. This book was no exception. It revolved around a mine cave in and a young blind girl who leads the way with her watch-weyr.

One Hex of a Wedding

Chintz 'n China #5: One Hex of a Wedding by Yasmine Galenorn

As much as I have enjoyed this series, I'm glad this was the last. I'm ready to move on to new authors or new characters. This one was very similar to the dragon legend book in that there was a hexed item. It however, was not out to kill anyone, but just cause a lot of problems for Emerald. Also, an old non-flame of Murray's shows up with much more sinister plans in mind.
