Lady Elizabeth

The Lady Elizabeth by Alison Weir
Unabridged on 16CDs

Alison Weir is an awesome historian. I own several of her non-fiction accounts of British history. In her second fictional novel, she takes off a bit into speculation of a few events that all evidence leads to, but isn't quite substantial enough to call historical fact. Regardless, this book is outstanding and portrays Elizabeth in her early years leading up to her ascension to the throne. Fantastic listen.

Nature of Monsters

The Nature of Monsters by Clare Clark

Not my usual kind of book, but a very good read. Set in 18th century England, the book illustrated the times view on women, retardation, and medicial experiments. Monsters don't have to be demons or trolls, they can be human beings that treat others as castoffs.

Song of the Sparrow

Song of the Sparrow by Lisa Ann Sandell
Written in verse, but reads like prose. Excellent teen book about Elaine, the Lady of Shallott. The story is different from the usual legends.

Enter Three Witches

Enter Three Witches by Caroline B. Cooney
Read by Charlotte Parry
Unabridged -- 7 CDs -- 7.5 hours

One of the best teen book I've listened to in a while. The reader's voice bothered me a little at times, but the story itself made up for any failings of the reader. Enter Three Witches is the story of Mary, daughter of the Thane of Cawdor. Mary lived with Lord and Lady Macbeth. After the Macbeths murdered King Duncan, Mary plays an important role in helping King Malcom regain the throne.
